Although I dabble in many mediums, I have a strong affinity with clay. I love the way my creatures come to life as I shape and model the material. Sometimes they look exactly as I plan them and at other times they almost seem to dictate how they want to appear. Either way, I enjoy creating work that has a sense of play, vulnerability and incongruity. I believe my sculptures are meant to be touched and although I enjoy watching the audience resisting the urge to pet my creatures I do believe that physical contact with an artwork, especially sculpture, can be an important kinaesthetic experience. Much of my work echoes the sense of tactility I experience while creating it.
